Testimonials

The behaviour of students in lessons and around the school is excellent.  They are polite and considerate.  The atmosphere in the school is calm, orderly and purposeful, without being regimented.  This is achieved through the vigilance of the staff and their diligence in developing high quality relationships with the students.

Learning Resource Centre

Eston Park Learning Resource Centre offers the pupils a chance to work in a pleasant environment with all resources to hand.

The LRC has 31 computers for pupils’ use.  We also have lots of resources which are updated regularly, including a Reference section and a Careers Library.  We have also created a display offering lots of useful websites linked to the National Curriculum to enhance pupils’ learning.

DVD’s/Audio Books

We have a wide range of DVDs to choose from.  The DVDs link to lots of books and also to the National Curriculum (we also have some fun ones too!)

The Audio section was introduced in September to encourage reluctant readers to listen and follow books as they are read for them.  We offer the Book, CD and Player to the pupils for use.

Loans

The school dinner card is also used as a Library Card.  Pupils can take out up to 4 books at a time with a loan period of 7 days.  If the book is not in stock, pupils can request them; if suitable, the Librarian will order them.

The DVDs can be taken out on loan for 1 night only.  The Audio books are for use within the LRC only.

Student Librarian Scheme

From September 2005, Eston Park have been running the above scheme.  The training runs from September to April each year.  When the pupils have finished their training, they are invited to a Presentation Evening along with all other participating schools in the area.  There are 2 stages to the training:  Trainee Student Librarian and Advanced Student Librarian.
