12-02-2008 Team Northumbria Netball match A year 10 pupil from Durham House approached the Durham House Sports Committee to organise a trip to see a Team Northumbria netball match. This pupil did all the research and planning. She researched ticket prices on the Internet and talked to players in the Grangetown Netball Team, who are connected to Team Northumbria, for information. This trip is open to the Year 7 netball team and other pupils. They want to encourage other pupils to join the sport and to raise the profile of netball as a sport. 12-02-2008 Netball Coaching Some of our year 10 girls play for Grangetown Netball Club and have taken an umpire training course. The team is very successful and the girls decided to bring the skills they had learnt into school by coaching the year 7 Netball team. The girls have been training the year 7s since September and have entered various tournaments already. All the girls have made new friends; it helps prevent bullying and gives the girls a person to come to and a place to enjoy themselves. The coaches asked for funding for kit to make the team look smart and for some training equipment and were successful in their bid. The team spirit is great and the current squad of 20 is growing from strength to strength. ... |

12-02-2008 EPS Kayaking Squad This is an initiative by 2 of our year 11 pupils The plan is to take 10 students at £40 per head to Tees Barrage white water course as the first activity of the EPS kayaking squad. Pupils put together a presentation showing everything the course involved, the total cost and explained how the course would benefit both the people going and the school as a whole.
