Pastoral Organisation

The School places great emphasis on good staff/student relationships and on providing a hard-working, well-disciplined atmosphere in which students as individuals can flourish.

All members of staff are attached to one of four Houses (Durham, Lincoln, Ripon and York).  Each House has nine tutor groups, vertically organised.  The care, guidance and support given to students was recently judged to be outstanding (OfSTED Inspection Report, December 2006).  The Every Child Matters agenda underpins every aspect of school life.  All students are set challenging targets and encouraged to have high expectations and aspirations.  The pastoral role of each member of staff is crucial in realising these outcomes.
