Physical Education Department (P.E.)

The Physical Education Department is a highly motivated and enthusiastic team. The department are committed to providing pupils with the opportunity to perform a variety of activities, along side improving attainment levels and providing out of hours sport.
The department consists of 6 members of staff, with 3 male teachers of boys PE and 2 female teachers of girls PE. Another member of staff splits her time between girls PE and a general school role. The Department runs a number of sports teams and has successfully taken 5 day Rugby and Football tours to Holland and Ireland.

We currently have an indoor sports hall, an indoor gymnasium, tennis courts, 3 football pitches, rugby pitch and range of fitness equipment.

Key Stage 3

National Curriculum dictates the nature of the activities covered and the criteria by which the pupils are judged. The Physical Education Department believes that the experience of sport and physical activity should be a pleasant, purposeful and satisfying experience. The ethos of the department is to persuade pupils that physical exercise, in whatever form it may take, should be part of their lives now, and in the future.

Key Stage 4

Physical Education recognises that the pupil, rather than the sport or activity, is central to the aims of the subject. Assessment, therefore, reflects not only natural ability in Physical Education but also how the developing pupil is able to cope with the unique demands of the subject.
A range of activities is designed to appeal to pupils of all abilities and interests. The ethos of the department is to encourage pupils to take part in and enjoy a variety of health related activities.
