D of E

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme - Eston Park DofE GroupEston Park School, in conjunction with Eston Park Youth Centre, has successfully run the DofE scheme for a number of years.

We are proud of our success with our participants and have achieved Awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels in the scheme.

The scheme encourages young people between the ages of 14 and 25 to try out different activities and to help other people. They work on four sections on their Bronze and Silver Awards, with an additional section at Gold.

The sections covered are Skills, Volunteering, Physical Recreation and Expedition, with an additional Residential section at Gold. Each section needs to be followed for a set period of time and has to meet certain requirements.

Young people are given the chance to fulfil their potential by developing existing skills and learning new ones.

There are many opportunities and challenges for the students to undertake. Previous participants have worked on a number of activities: working in old people's homes; helped in charity shops and in school; passed their Pilots Licence; worked as crew on a Tall Ship and sailed to Holland; raised money for children in Sri Lanka; travelled and worked in a school in Sri Lanka; spent a week at an Outdoor Pursuits Centre and completed their First Aid certification.
