With our departure to Sri Lanka just over two months away, our time for fundraising is coming to a close. The group of 20 girls recently finished their walk to Sri Lanka, managing to walk over 5660 and raising £1300 in the process, so a big well done to them! Another event which had taken place recently is the Eston Labour Club fundraising night, which took place on the 16th  April, and managed to raise £600 thanks to the members of the community who participated in the event and also to Eston Labour Club for allowing the event take place. We also completed our last bag pack on 1st  May at Sainsbury’s in Guisborough and managed to raise £600. With all this, our current total is a brilliant £28,000, but we still have a way to go.

In order to raise our final amount, events are currently taking place. These include the Sri Lanka Car Wash, in which volunteers are washing the staff cars in order to raise money. This event will be carrying on until the 14th May, so if staff wish to have their car washed, please see Grace Brooks to book your car in. Moreover, in the next week or so, the Sri Lanka football tournament will be taking place. If you are interested there are posters up around school or please see Andrew Lodge or Michael Lee.

Thank-you to all who are supporting our cause, and we will be keeping you updated with our progress.

Many thanks, the Sri Lanka Team.

On Friday 16th April a Fundraising night was held as the Eston Labour Club.  The night involved tombola, raffles, karaoke, a disco and an auction.  The night was great and everyone had fun!
We managed to raise £600.
Thanks to everyone who turned up and helped with the event

Current fundraising for our ever closer trip to Sri Lanka is going rather well, with our total the moment being over £14000, all raised through donations from the local community and volunteering from our Sri Lanka team. For all those who have donated to the fund a big thank-you and any little anyone can spare will be extremely appreciated.

With recent events going superbly; the previous two bag-packs raising just over 1,000 and the ongoing ‘Walk to Sri Lanka’ is currently around 1799 miles, but we still need to raise 50p for every mile we manage to walk so more sponsors would be very much appreciated. More events are also coming up in near future, with a big fundraising night in the local Eston Labour Club on April 16th (tickets can be purchased fromLauren Lloyd (Y6) and anyone over 18 years of age is welcome to come and join in!) and the Easter raffle beginning very soon, we hope to raise much more and become even closer to our £35 000 target.

A huge thank-you to all who are supporting our cause, and we will be keeping you updated with our progress.

Many thanks, the Sri Lanka Team.

Walking That Extra Mile

In summer 2010 a group of young people to Sri Lanka on a ‘volunteering working visit’ therefore within this we need to fundraise £40,000 to get there and help. One way in which we will get raise money is we have decided to have a fundraising walk of 5468 miles which is the distance from Eston Park School to Sri Lanka.

A group of 20 girls have volunteered to walk the distance from Eston Park to Sri Lanka in aim to raise money for a group of young people to go volunteer in Sri Lanka in which they will build schools and teach children. To do this we need to raise £35000, so every girl is walking 250 miles, 5 miles a day for 50 days to give a total of 5468 miles which is the distance to Sri Lanka. We also aim to get 50p per mile and that way we will "make a difference" and raise a huge amount of money that will greatly assist our target of raising £35000

Map and poster about further details will be displayed around school showing the distance we have covered.  Donation buckets are located in reception.

If you would like to donate please see Miss Talbot, Charlotte Hierons or Melissa Tyreman.

The girls set off walking on the 8th of February and we aim to have covered all the miles by 30th March.

As part of our Sri Lanka fundraising activities, we have recently been completing numerous bag packs across the area in stored like ASDA, Morrison’s, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. These bag packs are currently going rather well, as from only four bag packs we have raised over £2000, but this is only a minor amount compared to our needed total of £40,000.

So please, if it is possible, come and support us on our bag packing, the dates, times and places of which will be shown on the Sri Lanka calendar.  Thank you and any support will be grateful.

Pupils have now been selected for the trip, sorry to those who couldnt go.  Sucessesful students are listed on the Team Members page.

To those lucky ones who did get selected there will be a meeting held on Wednesday 14th October in D1 at lunch time.

Students should have lunch with them - or if they have school dinners get this immediatly at the start of lunch and bring in to D1.

Students should come prepared with some ideas of a fundraising activity or a link with someone who may be able to help us fundraise.

Finally they should have any major dates to which they cannot attend any activities eg. bag pack.

Students must bring along their confirmation letter to hand in.

The students are now back from the residential at Commondale.  Well done to all the students who completed the challenge.

They had a fun packed weekend which saw them river walking, dancing, pitching tents and doing morning exercises. They all impressed working well both as a team and a group and fun was had by all.

Successful students will be contacted by letter on Wednesday - after a hard decision is made by the staff.
