The Eston Park Way
At Eston Park School pupils are expected to :
- Be punctual and aim for 95% attendance or more
- Work hard, productively and at a good pace
- Show interest in their work, sustain concentration and to think and learn for themselves
- Apply intellectual, physical or creative effort in their work
- Acquire new skills and knowledge, develop ideas and to increase their understanding
- Treat others with respect, care and consideration
- Make the best use of the opportunities given to them and allow others to do likewise
- Get involved in the lesson and always try their best
- Come to lessons properly equipped
- Listen carefully to what others say
- Work well with others respecting them and the environment
- Know what they should achieve in their learning each lesson and over the course of the year
- Have a desire for continual improvement
- Take charge of their own learning for example by completing homework thoroughly and on time
In every lesson each teacher will make sure :
- Learning is made enjoyable to promote progress
- Positive relationships with students are encouraged
- Learning Objectives are shared
- There are high expectations and desired outcomes are modelled to learning activities
- Feedback on how to improve is provided
- A well resourced, calm, environment is created with a seating plan
- A variety of learning opportunities are provided to meet student need
Teachers will also :
- Use data widely to inform lesson planning and negotiate with students future outcomes
- Regularly involve students in peer and self assessment
- Use a range of ways to enhance student self esteem
- Employ a range of teaching styles and assessment strategies
- Promote independent learning and a desire amongst students for continual improvement
- Set regular homework providing prompt feedback on it
