Testimonials

The behaviour of students in lessons and around the school is excellent.  They are polite and considerate.  The atmosphere in the school is calm, orderly and purposeful, without being regimented.  This is achieved through the vigilance of the staff and their diligence in developing high quality relationships with the students.

York House

Welcome to York House

MEMBERS ONE OF ANOTHER

Head of House : Mrs A Rutherford
Assistant Head of House : Mr C Musicka
Senior Manager: Mr N Willey

Email: York@estonpark.co.uk

Our aim in York House is to provide a safe, secure environment where each individual can achieve his or her potential.  We work hard to involve parents and to encourage them to support their children's learning and development.  We promote a healthy life style for all pupils which reflects the whole school approach to this important aspect of life.

The pupils are cared for in nine form groups, in a vertical system which accommodates pupils from Year 7 to Year 11.  The York House Area is located on the first floor and is situated in the Science and Humanities area, which also includes the Learning Resource Centre.  There is a social area provided for pupils to use at break and lunchtime which is always staffed.

In addition to the Prefect team each House has representatives on the School Council.  There is also a House Council; there are eighteen members of this group with each tutor group being represented.

Our young people demonstrate a strong desire to help the community: locally, nationally and internationally.  Already, only three weeks into the new school year, the prefect team with Mrs Johnson have taken part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning raising vital funds for that charity.  We have also begun to fill shoe boxes with Christmas gifts bound for Eastern Euroope and to plan how the House is going to support the second visit of pupils to work alongside an underprivileged school and its community in Sri Lanka.  As Christmas approaches we will once again be supporting the Salvation Army in its appeal for grocery boxes to help those less fortunate in our local area.
